I said when I was over at your house on 01 February that I thought I had a copy of Guillotine.

I was right; I just found it in the living room.

I believe I should officially be declared the worst team, since I finished ninth and then lost all three consolation ladder games.  No other team managed 12 losses.

By the way, do you want to do the College Bowl Pick'em again this year?

I just got e-mail that the Trib is running a bowl contest (same system as all their other Upickem stuff).  You could create a private group there.

Here's the e-mail:
Quote
Dear college football fan:

Your friend has signed up for the free college
bowl contest at Chicagotribune.com, and he thinks you would get
a kick out of it, too.

The game is simple: Just guess the winner of each game for each
bowl game. Not only do you have the chance to win the grand
prize, but you can compare your scores with that of your
friends'.

Check it out at http://chicagotribune.collegefootball.upickem.net

Is there any benefit at all for my opponent to NOT bench her Saints receiver for tomorrow night?  She's got the win sewn up (84½-84½, and it could have been much worse), unless something really odd happens (receiver catches a pass, fumbles, and is out for the game with a concussion).

If I were in her position, I'd bench the receiver and take the sure W rather than try to pile on.  But I'm wondering if there's a game-play reason to pile on.

8 points for Pittsburgh's defense should not have to mean -3 for Baltimore's defense.  The offense gave up those six points.

I had the lead ... I could see it ... and now I'm 4½ down again.

Who knew Cobras-Lords would be the Game Of The Week?

Had I started Cotchery, I'd likely have it.  Had I made the waiver claim I really wanted (but got beat on), it would be over now, and I'd have a five-point win.  Instead, my hopes ride on the Baltimore defense; I need 15 to come back and beat Tony.  2:00 to go in the first half, I've got 14.

4:00 to go in the third of NYJ-SDG, and my bench is leading my starters 84-81. Huh

How in the blue hell did I manage to claim Cassel with Waiver Position 5?

(I had first crack at the four guys I was interested in.  This should not happen at #5, especially as the other three were also claimed.)

RED ALERT:

Baltimore and Houston are on bye this week.

I've e-mailed all the owners who have Ravens or Texans starting who were anticipating the game being played Monday night as originally rescheduled.  I hope everyone can get them scratched in time.

Don't scare me like that.  His birthday's not until Tuesday.  There will be no penance!

I will never be able to predict waiver claims.  I never thought I'd actually get a 99% owned wideout at #7 waiver position.

Well, it's Wednesday afternoon, and I'm projected the top scorer this week.  I didn't live anywhere close to those projections last week.

Also of note:  Both Cincinnati RBs (Perry and Watson) were undrafted.  They are the two highest %owned players who weren't taken in our league.

Makes me want to ride out Waivers and see who falls off the trees, though I'd still like to deal for bottom-of-the-roster help.

Matchup seems a little off.  The projections have me ahead 116-104, but my opponent is listed with the Advantage.

eek
I got Favre.
 unsure

I took Hasselbeck right in front of you.  (My third Quarterback ... of four ... *sigh*.)

You also took and waived a TE I had higher on my draft list than the one I got. Pout.

And yes, Tim, I've seen your trade offer.  I'll think about it.  I've got an offer in elsewhere which I think would shore me up better; we'll see if he/she is interested.
18  Hobbies / Gaming Discussion / Re: Bront.org Fantasy Football League Year 2 on: August 31, 2008, 12:41:29 AM
I know ESPN drafts straight down the list, and that is how I ran my mock draft.  It was just easier for me to make sure the draft filled all the positions it has to if I listed starters first, then bench.  If there is an RB on Bench, it means that two other RBs were drafted already; however, it does not mean that a K was drafted already.  (Every team had filled at least one Bench slot by Round 8, I think, which was before any kickers were taken; one team filled all six Bench spots in Round 12 and still needed three starters for the last three rounds.)

I didn't miss the 2PAT.  But I managed not to enter it into the data.

Yahoo! was all loused up for me yesterday; I was trying to read nfl.com boxscores instead.

I didn't have the fumbles lost for either Palmer or Delhomme.  I also missed that Reggie Bush threw a pick.
21  General Category / The Commune / Re: Why I can't keep track of how bad my fantasy football teams are on: October 29, 2006, 11:42:54 PM
If my numbers are right:

Urbana Green Tigers 88, Berea Braves 44 + Brady + Brown + Dillon + TE on bye
Urbana Silver Tigers 70, better than Ditka 57 + WR on bye
Urbana Black Tigers 50, Bbronco5 57 + Maroney
Urbana Orange Tigers 100, Reed's Steeds 98 + New England defense

And I'm assuming Branch gets credit for a fumble recovery in the Seattle game, because he forced and recovered a Kansas City fumble on the same play as Seneca threw a pick.  (Not that that affects me other than Black, where I'm losing.)
22  General Category / The Commune / Re: Anyone else Picked up "Straight Outta Lynwood"? on: October 29, 2006, 01:17:05 AM
I got it a couple weeks ago.  I don't care for "Pancreas" or "Weasel Stomping Day", but the rest of it was pretty good, I thought.  And I have no idea why "Virus Alert" would remind you of me ....
23  General Category / The Commune / Re: Why I can't keep track of how bad my fantasy football teams are on: October 23, 2006, 11:08:44 PM
I still can't enter data right; I had Coles's receiving numbers as his rushing numbers.

But if I've got the numbers right now: Green won 72-54 over the first-place team that started three people on bye; Silver couldn't come back and lost 43-49 because Glenn and Burress combined for 12 and Manning had 13 (I was down 5 going into Monday night; had I started Vick over Leinart, I would have won going away); Black, who was down over 20 points going into Monday night, lost by over 50, 86-35, to the team with the Giants' kicker and defense; and I think I held on in Tim's league, with Orange surviving 56-49.  (Ah, if I'd only played the Eagles that one week, I'd be 6-1 and in first place there.)
24  General Category / The Commune / Re: Why I can't keep track of how bad my fantasy football teams are on: October 16, 2006, 11:09:05 PM
Rackers missed two field goals, and I think I still survived in both Orange and Black.  Silver was doomed.  Green ... I'm not sure.  If Hester's punt retrun counts for the Bears defense in that league, I lost 64-63; else I won.  EDIT:  It didn't count; I won 63-58.
25  General Category / The Commune / Re: Why I can't keep track of how bad my fantasy football teams are on: October 15, 2006, 09:42:07 PM
Yeah, so I missed the Brunell-Moss 2PAT.  That changes scores in three leagues (since I'm going against Moss three times); I've made the edit.  The other numbers I agreed.

Still, if Jones and the Bears only score Yahoo! projections, and Rackers scores at all, I'll survive.
26  General Category / The Commune / Re: Why I can't keep track of how bad my fantasy football teams are on: October 15, 2006, 08:04:20 PM
If my data are right:

Green:  62-37 up, pending Berrian for me and Muhammad, Clark, and Bears Defense for opponent.  I've got a chance there.  (Opponent also has a kicker on bye and could switch, but neither Gould nor Rackers is available (I actually picked up Rackers this week in that league but didn't play him).)
Silver:  63-89 down, with Clark for me and none for opponent (again, opponent has a kicker on bye but neither Gould nor Rackers is available; again I have Rackers).  I am doomed.
Black:  68-72 down, with Rackers for me and Berrian for opponent.  A remote chance there.
Orange (Tim's league):  74-57 up, pending Rackers for me and Jones and Bears defense for opponent.  I've got a good chance there.

My best hope:  Hey, the Bears can win 73-9, just as long they don't throw to Muhammad, Berrian, Clark, or Jones, and don't score on defense, and don't hand Jones the ball much.  And don't force turnovers.  And give up those nine points to Rackers.
27  General Category / The Commune / Re: Why I can't keep track of how bad my fantasy football teams are on: October 10, 2006, 02:53:01 PM
18-point mistake cost me the game in two leagues.  I played well enough to win all four, but that defense switch snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.  *sigh*  If only rosters locked earlier ... or Philly had played at noon.
28  General Category / The Commune / Re: Why I can't keep track of how bad my fantasy football teams are on: October 09, 2006, 06:03:40 PM
No, that's just "data error".  "User Error" is agonizing over whether to start Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, then switching at the last minuted to the wrong one.
29  General Category / The Commune / Re: Why I can't keep track of how bad my fantasy football teams are on: October 02, 2006, 06:37:07 PM
Today's answer to "Why I can't keep track of how bad my fantasy football teams are" is because, as usual, I can't do data entry.

I missed two fumbles for Carson Palmer (Tim pointed those out).
I missed a 2PAT reception for Joe Horn.
I missed two touchdowns for Kevan Barlow.  (Touchdowns?  How did I miss entering TOUCHDOWNS?)

And there's still a mystery.  I'm still off by one for Fighting Pike (the Silver Tigers' opponent), and it's the Indianapolis defense; by my calculations, they had 3 sacks (+3), one pick (+2), one fumble recovery (+2), and had 22 points allowed (+0 for 21-27). (I realize the Jets scored 28 points, but 6 of those don't count against the Indianapolis defense by Yahoo! rules.) That's 7 points. Yahoo! says Indianapolis has 8 points, and I don't know why. (Tim, if you can tell me why, I'd appreciate it.)
30  General Category / The Commune / Re: Why I can't keep track of how bad my fantasy football teams are on: October 01, 2006, 07:29:58 PM
New version.  Puts all the data entry on one page (aside from roster entry), and then performs lookups to populate the individual team stats.

And I'm doing much better this week.
