I'm still mulling about my reaction (besides being shocked and disgusted) to the whole thing, but I figured I'd open up a place to talk about it, it's potential reprocussions, what went right and wrong, and any other reactions to it.

It will be intersting to see how this may influence stronger gun laws...
Hey, politicians...the people who use guns for crime won't follow even stronger gun laws..it will make it harder for normal law abiding citizens to deter criminals..idiots.

I'm irked that people are blaming Virginia Tech for not warning them within 2 hours of the first shooting.

1) Virginia Tech was fairly sure the man had left the campus (He had, and then came back).
2) 2 hours is not enough time to notify 26,000+ students, not to mention faculty and others.
3) If it was a city of 26,000, would you expect it to shut down over the murder of 2 people?
4) On top of everything else, they had reason to believe he was done with the killing, having an ex-girlfriend and the RA been the first two victims.

I'm not saying VT is innocent of all charges here, but blaming them for not getting the word out in time is ludicrous.  People have been spoiled by the Internet and instant information.  It's not always that instant folks...

.....out it time is ludicrous.

Whenever i hear that word, i cannot help but remember Mike Tyson saying 'ludecwis'.

For those of you who think that there are news stories that do not have a political agenda behind it, i envy you. 1984 and A Brave New World (not to mention Animal Farm) have left there mark on my intake filters. If you have not read them, i encourage you to do so.
