I'm going to revive my unnamed setting that I was working on ages ago.

Welcome to my currently unnamed setting.  It’s currently a work in progress, so pardon the dust or any changes that may occur.  Here is a brief history to help understand some of the setting’s unique characteristics.

For ages, the world lived in uneasy truce as the races held themselves up in their own kingdoms, till about five hundred years ago.  Humans and elves started interbreeding, and the Half-Elf population arose, and multiplied.  The Human King started negotiations with the other races to bring peace between them, and offered his daughter to the Elven Prince to unite the races.

However, many of the children of the racial royalty, including the human King’s daughter, vanished and all indications were that they died.  The human King blamed the elves and began to wage war against the Elves.  The elves then turned up through investigation the plot of the human King to have his daughter assassinate her soon to be husband once the current Elven king abdicated, and seize power among the races.  Further more, the elves found evidence of human research into magics designed to slaughter the other races, the elves united the other known races against the Humans.

The Human king was not without his resources and he denounced all other races as inferior, and vowed to kill them all.  The war took its toll on every race, but the non-humans, lead by the Elves, were resilient.  The Elves convinced the Gnomes, Dwarves, Halflings, and Orcs that humans had to go, with only some arguments from the Gnomes, who were reluctant to enter the fray in the first place.  It was only in discovering the slave Katarans that the Gnomes joined in force, though reluctantly.

With Genocide being a distasteful, if necessary evil, many humans were disguised themselves and live as half-elves, with sympathetic onlookers turning a blind eye to their presence.  The combined might of the Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, Halflings, and Gnomes were too much for the humans, and within 2 generations, humans were no more, and the half-elf population had grown mightily.

Almost five hundred years have passed since this great Racial War (Also referred to as the Great War).  Racial nations slowly became more integrated, and many splintered off into kingdoms.  There have been many minor wars, but only involving small nations, and none with the racial overtones of the Great War.  Now, while there are many kingdoms where one race is dominant, the only true racial kingdom remaining is the Orc Nation, which has kept to the seas, and to itself.  The Katarans search for a racial identity by borrowing from other races.  Elven leaders from all nations maintain vigilant watch for the next potential ‘humans’.  Dwarves simply focus on the immediate future, and have tried to leave the past behind.  Gnomes have embraced the Katarans and sought to heal the lands and the people from such an ordeal that has ripples of effects even so many years afterwards.  Halflings have returned to their families and are perhaps the least effected today by the events of the past.  Half-Elves are still caught in the middle of a war that ended ages ago, a constant reminder of what was and what some fear could be again.

Welcome to my world…

World Map Link

Race and Class stuff is in the setting doc, which is still subject to change (I'm not at V1.0 yet).  Since I will be testing some of this out in game, bear that in mind.

Deities available for clerics I'm potentialy working on, but I'll probably steal most of my ideas from the ones I detailed in LEW, so I'll probably use those till I finish working on these.

Now, I realise that some of this I need to flesh out, and I'll be working on that, but I'm still recruiting.

Characers will:
-Be 3rd Level
-Be point built with 32 points (If you don't know what this means, ask, it's fairly simple)
-Start with 3000 gold
-Gain an extra "Background" Feat, one gained at 1st level, and MUST be explained in the background some how.  Doesn't need to be done expressly, but must fit in with the background.
-Should be non-evil, and willing to do good.  I'm not a stickler on allignment, but characters that are able to work as a team (for the most part) would be nice, and ones willing to side on good are much prefered.

Books Allowed:
-Anything not SRD/Core needs to be run past me, but most of the Complete series is ok (Base classes are only ok if listed when I compile the list) and I'll even let stuff from some settings in if it fits (feats/spells, maybe even gear).  If I don't have the book, you'll have to give me exact details about anything you want to use.
-Prestiege classes need to be approved first and are treated on a case by case basis.  Doesn't mean you can't use them, just ask me first.  I'm usually inclined to say yes.

Want to play?  Bounce a concept off me.  I'll be adding more world detail later to the world (Probably mostly by request), so ask.

I remember this, I played a Halfling 'singer'. I will have to think about what I would like to play, to make the decision a little easier, will you be allowing Psionics?

How is this going to be accomplished? And how much of our time will be required? Every night, when we get around to it (playbypost-ish), once a month?

I like gnomes...

Idealy, 1-3 posts a week is a good pace.  More if things pick up, like conversations or combat, but 1-3 a week is a good pace to aim for.  It will be a play by post, and open to anyone (though I'll only take 4-6 people, and it's not first come first serve).

I posted the setting document which lists allowable races and classes.  You may still like gnomes, but they are much different than the D&D ones (Much more tied to nature and their Fey heritage).

I also tweeked some classes a bit (Monk, Druid, and Sorcerer most noticably).

The races are the biggest change, as beyond halflings, no race was untouched, and even halflings are a little bit different (They tend to be very good psions).

Some of the changes are up in the air, I'm looking for flavor and balance, but I think I got 80-90% of what I want to get right, right.

I am still tweeking though, so feel free to coment on something you see glaringly wrong.

I took a look at your setting doc, is there anything mechanical that makes Halflings good Psionics or is that just game background?

Background.  Some things are still in flux.  That note has been removed, as have favored classes.  I"ll have the new revised version up tomorow.

Nevermind, uploaded v.2 of the setting.  EVERY race has been modified in some way, though the Dwarf and Halfling are very mild edits.

Is there a downloadable version (that you know of) for classes in the PHBII? They do not appear to be a part of the SRD. Specifically I wanted to look at the write-up of the Beguiler. I also wanted to know if you would allow any classes or material from the d20 Oriential Adventures campaign setting (I own the book and can let you borrow it if you would like)?

Would I be correct in asuming that this follows the same guidelines as in the DMG for point-based character creation (all stats start at 8 with 32 points to spend on increasing beyond that, 1:1 upto 14, 2:1 from 15 to 18)?

PHBII is not OGL, so no, though the Knight is on WoTC's sight.  The Beguiler is a rogue/sorcerer cross who mostly only has a spell list of enchantment spells, and most direct damage spells do Non-lethal damage.

No oriental classes, but feats feel free to run by me.

Point Buy you have almost right.  It's 1:1 up to 14, then it's Modifier:1 to raise it from there (2:1 for 15,16 (Since 14 has a +2), and 3:1 for 17:18).  It costs 16 to buy an 18.

FYI, Elves are likely to be tweeked a bit more.  Possibly halflings, but maybe not.  I might also add the Katara from my creations on the front page.

Quick question, would you allow any modification of the core classes for your game?

I'm pretty flexable, depends on what you're looking for.  Most of the UA suggestions are fine, as long as you let me know first.  Some I won't allow (No wirling frenzy).

OK, Races have been finalized till the game, though I'll put in some more flavor text as I can.  Version v.3 is up Smiley

I am still playtesting some of this (since it's mostly just my hacks), so we'll see how well it all goes, and I appreciate you being patient with me.

On a side note, I'm encouraging people to play some of the stuff I've altered or created, since it's a change to playtest it.  No bonus for it, but it'd be nice Smiley

I think I'm the only PbP player regular here.

All the campaign info is in the word doc, which is admitedly changing on occasion, but I think it's now just background stuff.  I'm going to start putting the deities and feats in.  The feats are ones I wrote, the deities are some I wrote for LEW, I might take their pantheon for the moment and flesh out things I don't like later too.

Editors Note: in the racial description of the Orc in your setting document, you need to change 'Elf' to 'Orc' in the description of Low-Light Vision.

I'm insane but only mildly suicidal. I wouldn't put myself through that. I'm still working on a character concept.

Cool.  I'm working on more fluff at the moment, so most of the updates will add more background detail to the setting.

I wish I still had my old map.  I'll probably have to make a new one.

I uploaded the PbPForm character sheet.  use notepad or another text editor to work with it.  Things are lined up in tabs, and should look fine when posted.  I'll make a sample character and post it later in the character thread for an example.
