I was skeptical. Alot. Oh, look at the new gimmick, like the stupid robot for the NES that was useful for what, like, two games?
I have been converted. Thank you Tim. I have never had so much fun getting beaten at bowling and tennis, well, ever. And Wii Tennis rocks, btw.

And the controls aren't just a gimic either, as you saw with Zelda and SSX.
It is a blast, and actualy a realy good party game system. Live party games too, none of this accross the internet stuff, though online play should be available at some point.
And heck, we even got your wife to play

Not to mention all the cool games from decades past that you can download too. Like Nobunaga's Ambition and Kung Fu Master and Contra and...

I was quite disappointed in the selection of downloadable games available. From the Nintendo, SNES, Nintendo 64, Saga Genesis, and the Turbo Grafix 16, there were only about 200 titles available. And most of the ones I was really looking for weren't even there. Do they plan on expanding that list in the future?

Every monday they released 3-4 more.
You weren't expecting all of them, were you?
Not all are owned by nintendo, and some may never be back up there. The Final Fantasies may and Chrono Trigger may never end up there for example, and some games have been released into Gamecube Collections already (Megaman for example). That reminds me, I need the Megaman X collection.
I've picked up Mario Kart, Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario World, Mario 64, Sonic, Castlevania IV, Kid Icarus, and Streetfighter II Turbo. I've got a lot of play out of Super Mario World, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, and Castlevania.

Some of the big ones I was looking for were the gauntlets, old school stuff like kung fu master, and that one game they were playing in Bloodsport, Nobunaga, Act Razor, Rastan, and a bunch of other Genesis games I don't even know the names of, but Shadowrun would have been nice.

You could have checked. Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a newer Nobunga's, and a lot of the Genesis games are licence issues, I'm guessing shadowrun will never be released since Fasa is defunct and they need to release it.
That said, they are releasing 3-4 titles a week. so you never know.
If you haven't already, pick up all the Zelda titles. Link to the Past some people say is the best Zelda (SNES) ever, Orcanara of Time (N64) is an awsome game, Zelda and Zelda II (NES) are classics, and not sure if Majora's Mask (N64) is available yet. Majora's Mask is the only one I've not finished, and part of that has been time.
Wind Walker (Gamecube) is a great game as well and can be had for cheep (or borrowed from me at some point, though I think Drew has first dibs if he asks, if I'm not replaying it, which is unlikely at the moment). And Twilight Princess, well, you can read my reviews for gamecube and Wii games
here
. Hope some of those help.
BTW, if you like final fantasy style games, Tales of Symphonia is a must have (it's somewhat Secret of Mana-esque too, as you can multiplayer combat, which is semi-arcadish).

I actualy heard good things about both versions. 08 for the Wii isn't quite the 360 or PS3 version, but it's supposedly a very solid game.
I usually go with the PC version myself, and since I have 07 for the PC, I won't be getting 08 for any system.

Metroid Prime from what I heard was pretty easy, the second one was way harder. They are both for the Gamecube so you can play them on the Wii.

I thought Prime 1 was harder than Prime 2, but then, part of that was getting used to the controls and a first person shooter. I had to retry more fights on Prime 1 than Prime 2, and Prime 1 took me longer to complete. The ending of Prime 2 was harder though.
Prime 3 is pretty cool, very imersive, and seems a bit easier because of the control scheme. One you get used to aiming and moving it's very accurate. My biggest anoyance is that they included several jesture ways to activate switches that gets old quickly, and I'm a little too quick with the grapple lasso, so I often miss my yank back.
I'm probably going to do a review of all 3 prime games at some point for the site, hopefully get the first one up this week.

Elbows, not thumbs.
The high capacity (2500 ma) Energizer rechargables work well in the Wiimotes.
It comes with 1 Wiimote, 1 Nunchuck, and NO classic controlers. Classic controlers are used for the old games on Virtual consol, as well as some new games.
I recoment Wii Play to get your second controler and a cheep party game.
What kind of games are you looking for? There are quite a few fun ones on the Wii.

Some good rpg type, 2 player co-op and 2 player vs that isn't a battle one.

Zelda is a good RPG/Action game. Super Paper Mario is a fun RPG/Platformer. Not a lot of Pure RPGs for it yet, beyond what's on the Virtual Consol.
Super Mario Galexy supposedly has a fun 2 player co-op. Marvel Ultimate Alliance is up to 4 player co-op/RPG.
Most of the party games work ok as 2 player vs that aren't battles. Super MOnkey ball has some fun vs games, as does Mario Party 8.

It's the first page of your address book. You need to turn on Wii connect 24/7 though.

One of the great things about the Wii is for a lot of games the controls transcend generations. I talk to people on the phone at work who are delighted with the Wii because they can play their grandchildren at games and none fo the controls are over their heads.
