I'm going to throw this out there as a topic.
How do you feel about the US becoming more multi-lingual?

I like it.
Having english as a form of 'common tongue', and other of the worlds languages (russian, mandarin, spanish, german...) in a semblence of frequency would be good. For many reasons.

I dislike why it's happening (specificly, to cater to the increasing hispanic population, many of whome are here illegaly), but I do agree that it does need to be done to globalize the US.
Europe is very open about this for example, and most things are done in multiple languages, though much of that is just due to the amount of international exchange that happens in Europe that doesn't happen in the US.
Still, it does irk me that some things are made more inconvenient for english speeking citizens in order to accomidate this trend, and that much of the demand for this is created by people who are not here illegaly (This is not to say most hispanics are here illegaly, but the legal ones tend to be ones more interested in learning English instead of forcing Spanish on the US).

I like diversity, I think it is a good thing. And I have yet to feel "inconvenienced" by America being multilingual. Than again I've never taken a stroll through chinatown either. I guess because I have yet to feel inconvenienced by it, I see no problem with it. After all, we are in america, we don't have to all speak american. We have the freedom of speech, that means in what language we choose to use as well. In fact, speaking american puts us at a disadvantage, the rest of the world uses the metric system. We invented our own. Go figure.
