Crispens posts have brought up several questions but really the most interesting to me is
Why do you believe what you believe?

My spirituality and beliefs came from nearly 20 years of reading searching, meditation, and listening to others talk about their beliefs

what was it that hit you with the realization “this is the truth of it”

My beliefs come from a desire for Truth.  This desire for Truth has lead me to my current belief system but not content with it.  Not that I am filled with doubt, but that I can see there is more to know, more to learn, on every fact/base assumption I have.  It leaves me politely intolerant of the many lies that fill our world.  It leaves me thirsty for conversations with intelligent people, so I can test my assumptions, and learn about theirs.  It leaves me with a passion to read more, listen more, do more.

I jokingly refer to my beliefs as "goofy hippy".  I believe that there are spirits in this world, (dieties/spirits/whatever) that control what happens.  We have a choice in how we react to things, and these spirits will react to our decisions.  I have a huge problem with monotheism, because there needs to be a balance with good/neutral/evil.

I don't really belong to an "organized" religion.  I just listen to people and listen to the world.  I try to take care of the earth.

So yeah, I'm an agnostic hippy.

I would have to say science and the evidences of christ.  It would take more faith for me to not believe in God.

I like the way Tony put that. I too think it would take a lot more faith for me to NOT believe in God.

Just as one reason for my belief: there is just too much deliberate order to the world, galaxy and universe we live in to not have had a master's touch in the creation of it. I am sure I will have more later, but I just wanted to drop in and say that.
