Well, I am a HUGE Chuck fan. Loved every episode (all 13 of them) from Season 1. Can't wait for Monday night when Season 2 starts.
Thought maybe there were others out there who liked the same Nerd Herder....

I like the show. The writers, however, either don't have a true handle on geek culture or they do, but that does not pay the bills.

I think the show is great.
Adam Baldwin has probably one of the best roles in the series so far. I'm really curious what is going to happen tomorrow. I know the title of the episode is Chuck Vs the First Date.

I love Adam Baldwin (John Casey). For those of you out there that either were fans of the show Firefly, or fans of the movie Serenity, you will know him as Jayne. I think Jayne was Drew and my favorite character on that show, so when we started watching Chuck last year we were so happy to see him on the show. He cracks us up.

Regarding this comment...I would love to know what your thoughts on "geek culture" are. This is by no means a challenge or anything. I am just curios what you feel the show is not doing a good job in portraying as it pertains to geek culture. I think of Chuck as a middle of the road geek - not totally engrossed in the nerd/geek world, and with a sense of reality - not necessarily a hard-core geek. So from my point of view, I do think they do a good job portraying him that way. But, that is just from the way I choose to view Chuck.
Later!

It is an awesome show. To my mind the writers have a firm grasp on what it is to be a geek. Casey tho is an very good character but I can't choose a overall favorite since the entire cast is just so good at what they do. Can't wait to see tonights episode and what they do with the full season in front of them.

NBC has requested a total of 22 episodes this season so we know that we will have at least this season of Chuck to amuse us.
Last night was probably one of the best episodes they have done. If you missed it, go to NBC.com and watch it. *waves hand*
You will watch Chuck.

I loved it. Morgan, Anna & Lester cracked me up with the whole interviewing process.
Drew and I kept saying Chuck should just become a CIA agent. How else will they be able to justify keeping Casey & Sarah around? Sooner or later they will get an Intersect computer working, and that would be the end of it - unless they recruit him!!

Exactly, it seems a logical step for him to take as well. Be interesting to see just how long they keep the Buy More/Nerd Herd angle going. All in all I was laughing myself silly watching it last night. My fav moment was when Chuck faked out all the bad guys with Morgans assistance. It was awesome to see the change that came over him when he decided what course of action to take.

I think this season is going to be about Chuck accepting what he has become and I think they will keep the Buy More in the series as his cover.

Very good episode! I agree about Chuck joining the CIA. If he does they better keep the Buy More cover going cause I like the interaction with the rest of the Buy More crew.

Drew and I thought it was brilliant too when Chuck used Morgan's specs for Call of Duty. It was awesome. And it is true - he became so confident as soon as he had that plan in mind.
I too love the interaction with the Buy More crew. I have to say that this series has one of my favorite supporting casts ever. I don't think there is a character that I don't like. I love the mischief that Jeff and Lester are always up to.

I guess the biggest problem I see is that a middle-of-the-road-geek is being portrayed as a "get a lifer". I think that from the writer's point of view Chuck is the geekiest loser you would ever have met before the Intersect was dumped into his brain.
There are also many unreality things that get me (nice apartment and furniture that matches on his pay in California, etc.). They don't keep me from watching though because I expect this level of quality from NBC. It may be good but not great.

Keep in mind that the apartment is his sister's and her boyfriends - both of whom are doctors - so all in all, that is not unrealistic - even in California.

I don't see that at all. I don't think Chuck was the geekiest loser, and I don't feel the writers have portrayed him that way. He is certainly a geek, but look at it from this point of view...he got kicked out of school for cheating (which he knows he didn't do) - I think that would cause a lot of people to feel deflated and to just kind of settle for what came along, rather than going for something greater. He had goals and dreams before he got kicked out of Stanford, and lost those dreams, because they were based on him graduating. He didn't graduate, therefore the roadmap he had set for his life was completely altered, and he probably thought - well, I am not going to own my own company, etc (all the stuff Charles Carmichael does) so I might as well work with my best bud Morgan at the Buy More until something better comes along - and then time passes, and so on. I don't really feel that that makes him a loser. I think that is typical of a lot of people out there - makes him relateable in my opinion. And then in drops the Intersect, and bam - he has drive back in his life - a purpose again. I actually think that we see the real Chuck more when he is on missions, than at work at the Buy More.
But again, that's just all my opinion!!

I haven't gotten into the show. I wasn't too impressed from the previews I saw before the first season. With Adam Baldwin in it I may check it out some time. Is it something you need to watch from the start like so many other shows these days?

Aeson, you don't have to watch every episode to enjoy one of the current ones. The show has a story line that spans several episodes but it's a very "problem of the week" kind of show. IMO, all of the episodes are funny.
I think you hit the nail on the head Ash, Chuck got kicked out of school, when home to his sister and has been punishing himself for it for the last 5 years.

Another excellent episode tonight.
And just when you think things are getting better with Chuck and Sarah, here comes Bryce to mess that all up.

That bastard. What happened to him going deep undercover and off the radar? Wish Bryce had stayed off the radar for a while longer. I just want Chuck to best Bryce in some way.
I thought John Laraquette (sp) was a good addition last night. I love the whole "Thailand" (tie, land) stuff. I thought that was funny. And again, Lester just cracks me up! The Wheel of Misfortune! Funny. Good episode. Can't wait for next week.

Last night was a very good episode. The side story between Captain Awesome and Ellie was pretty funny as well.
I can't wait to see what is going to happen to Lester next week. I'm really hoping that Sarah dumps Bryce next week because the title of the episode is Chuck vs the Break up.
Here is a link to the episode list. There are some spoilers from the look of it so you have been warned.

I can't believe Captain Awesome was taking advice from Morgan - what did he call him - the furry little bastard. But Chuck getting the CIA to set up the apartment for Cpt. Awesome was, well...awesome.
I was telling Drew too that it cracks me up when they do the slow-mo stuff with Sarah once in a while when she comes into the Buy More, with the crawling, and did I see a cartwheel last night too, all with a back-drop of what sounds like 80's big hair band music. She does it well. I think she is my newest girl crush. I don't get to see Vala from Stargate anymore, so she has been ousted by Sarah!! Are you with me there Peggy??

Yes, you did see a cartwheel in there. They were playing Hewie Louis and the News I do believe. I'm finding the musical selection for the season to be highly amusing.

Well, I think I need to revise my opinion of Bryce. Still a punk, but I actually do believe him when he said last night that he was looking out for Chuck, always has been. And here is why...
Bryce is not an idiot. He knows how the CIA works, and knows that they will eventually kill Chuck when they don't need him anymore. So what does Bryce do - he downloads the NEW Intersect into Chuck to ensure that Chuck will live to see another day!! And I am going to go out on a limb and say that I think Bryce will be the one who eventually finds a way for Chuck to survive all this without having to sell his soul to the government and be an agent, or have to die because they are done with him. Anyone with me on that? Hopefully we won't find that out for a few seasons (because I don't want this show to end anytime soon), but that is what I am thinking. I think last night was a little foreshadowing in that regard. That is my hope anyway - for Chuck's biggest nemesis to be the one who "saves" him in the end!!
I loved Chuck's description of the Folcrum lady - kind of elven-queen like!! And his comment about Sarah's dress..."Red's not really my color...or salmon, or whatever that is." And his whole attitude in saying it, and his mannerisms. A small moment in the show, but it had me cracking up - just the look on Sarah's face, and his delivery.

Yea I can see that but I can also see that Bryce is being kind of self-serving in regard to Sarah. Cuz you could tell by the look on her face that she was gonna say something different from what Chuck ended up doing. My opinion of Bryce is kinda colored by the Sarah aspect of their triangle. I can kinda see how it can seem like he's protecting Chuck, but also at the same time it's more him trying to separate him from Sarah as well. All in all last night was a good episode, I just don't like Bryce.
