Nice printer, I remember when wireless printers were $300.

I have it mostly set up. I still need to get it connected to the network. I might be able to get it done before work tonight.

Looks like I have to install the drivers for it on any computer I want to use it. That's not what I wanted. I wanted my gaming group to be able to just use it from their laptops if they have one. I wonder if there is another way to do that.

You are going to need to install the drivers for the printer on any computer you want to be able to access and use it.

Could he not set his printer up from his computer, and have the printer and related docs shared to other ppl on the same network?

The point of the wireless printer was so I didn't need to connect to another computer. I can move the printer anywhere and still use it. I guess there are just limitations to what I can do.

Of course. Your wireless printer needs a gateway. It cannot (yet) connect directly to your wireless router. And if it could, you may have issues with neighbors printing on your printer. All I am saying is, your pc is the gateway to your printer. Big deal. It could be upstairs, and as long as your printer is shared on your wireless network (and your buds have your wireless password), they should be able to access your printer. If I am wrong, geek squad, please correct me. This just happens to be a ...pastime...of mine.

So what you're saying is the printer needs to be configured to a PC to be used or the PC needs to be configured to the printer?
During the wireless setup I was asked to enter my WPA password so the printer could access the network. I assumed, incorrectly, that it would be used for all computers on the network trying to access it. It seems I have to do this for all of them.
Maybe I'm not clear on what you're saying.

A wireless printer can be setup as a network printer. You just need to add the printer to the computers you want to be able to access it in order to print to it.

You wanted a USB printer. That would have functioned better for what you wanted. Plug and play, and there you go.
There isn't really anything that's print from anywhere without drivers first out there.
Otherwise, you'll have to configure the printer for every wireless network you attach it too (and people who use it will have to be set up as well).

I got what I wanted. With this printer I don't have to remember to turn on a computer every time I want to print something from another computer. I just have to get up and walk to the printer to get my print out. I guess I was hoping it would have a work around for the drivers.
It would have been nice to set it up and let anyone with access to the network just print without needing the drivers on their computer. Oh well. I'll live. It is a nice printer. I've printed some things out and it went quickly. I need to try the scanner and copier soon.

I'm not sure but I think I saw the same printer at Walmart last night for $20 less. I say I'm not sure because I don't know if that one is wireless.
