I was recently informed that one of the local cons will be right in my neighborhood!

Unfortunatly, it will also be on mother's day weekend. Same as last year. We didn't (Bad Ash and I) attend last year, and I will not be attending this year, either. It is my hope that the powers that be will begin to reconsider what weekend to run this con on.

Yes - it is on Saturday only. However, here is the issue.

Mother's Day on Sunday is supposed to be a day of relaxation for the mom, and a time to spend with her family. If she happens to have family coming over, she will want to get the house ready on Saturday, and she will want her husband there to help her get the house cleaned, do some yard work, help get food ready, or even just entertain the kids while she does most of the work, so that come Sunday, she can RELAX. So, the issue with the con being on Mother's Day WEEKEND, is that either the mom likes to game herself, and can't because she has all this stuff to do, so that Mother's Day can be truly relaxing, or her husband likes to game, but she wants him home helping out.

See, this is the problem with men controlling the gaming world. They don't think about this kind of stuff. And that was one of the reasons I got on the GB& board - to try to get this moved to a different weekend, but because they book so far in advance (or so I was told) the date couldn't really be switched, and it also may conflict with other cons.

So for those of you out there who control these things - don't tick off the women gamers, or the wives of gamers, by stealing their weekend for gaming. Not cool.

As I understood it, Joe was always the one with the final say on when each event was held.

I do not know all of the factors in the decision to hold it on Mother's Day weekend but I agree that it most likely effect attendance. I'll be in Indiana visiting my mom.

I spoke with Verne on Sunday and Concentric has been moved!!! The new date for Concentric is Saturday May 23rd.
