Anyone know how to fix this error? I have no idea. I am working from home, and a system I have to use says that it is compatible with Internet Explorer 6.0 and I have to have my computer say it is "javascript enabled". I have talked to Bront briefly about this, and he had me download java again, just to make sure it wasn't that. Still no luck.

I am currently using IE 8.0. Could that be the issue? Is there something else? Please help. I have to use this new system all the time, and right now I am having to have other coworkers update the info for me. I can get into the system, and do all my data entry, but when it comes to actually ordering the underwriting findings and credit, that is when I get the error.

Thanks!

Uninstall IE 8.0 and install IE 7.0. IE 8.0 is buggy and it could very well be an issue with IE 8.0.

This is Ashley - I am writing from Drew's login.

How do you uninstall 8.0, and then how do I get 7.0 to install?, Or 6.0 - maybe I should just do that one since that is what the site says it is compatible with.

Thanks

Use the 'Add/Remove Programs' application in the Control Panel to Remove IE 8.0, then go here to download IE 7.0.

Actualy, the issue is that IE 8 is not default backwards compatable with IE 6, and IE 6 did not read HTML code according to the HTML standard (instead, it read it to Microsoft's HTML standard).  There's a setting in IE 8 that would could have been changed to get it to work.

I may have a related problem.

My home PC normally would be set to accept update downloads from Microsoft automatically. However, I booted up a week ago and Internet Explorer automatically began shutting down right away, and I couldn't get it to work. Needless to say, a computer without Internet access is mostly worthless to me.

After fumbling around for a few hours trying to get it to work, I discovered that IE 8.0 was downloaded right before the problem started- so I uninstalled it. Unfortunately, that did not solve the problem and I kept getting the message that IE was being shut down to protect my computer. So, I disabled this so my IE would work with this "protection" disabled. (When IE 8.0 was installed, did it automatically uninstall 7.0, and do I have to get and reinstall it? I can't find 7.0 in my "computer").

I thought that solved the problem, but when IE 8.0 installed again, it wouldn't operate even in the unprotected mode. So I uninstalled it again, and now have updates installed only on my say-so.

Is my answer to download Firefox and forget IE? What can I do to IE 8.0 to enable it to function?

Thanks!

Firefox will work with most sites.  Some sites (particular anything on Illinois Unemployment) requires IE (though it works in IE8).

I've had no issues with IE8, and you folks are the first people who I've heard have had problems.

On a side note, I always suggest you have it download but not install updates, and then do it on your own time.
