In space. On a starship. Don't care if I was sweeping the decks.

I always wanted to be an archeologist. Tomb raiding and all that.

When I was a little brat, I wanted to be a magician. Then I discovered the radio and I day dreamed about being a radio disc jockey. This was soon followed by the desire to be in a rock band ( ergo why I joined a certain video game group on certain Friday nights recently ) either as a singer, drummer or keyboardist ( I did learn the keyboard in a junior college and played in a steel drum band but that was many many moons ago ). My older brother also inspired me to be an illustrator but like everything else, I wasn't disciplined in practicing my skill and never decided on which profession I wanted to do. Music, communications or art. The closes I came to one of my interest was when I worked for a DJ company that a friend started and I did this for a year but I got tired of dealing with a couple of "bridezillas" and I said "Forget this!!" so I left the company and now I only DJ for friends or family.

If you take a counselor, lifecoach, psychologist, social worker, and volunteer, roll it all into one, that is what I want to be when I grow up.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

Hmm. Let's see...
A job that is secure in bad economic times, has more or less regular salary increases, pretty much allows me to create my own schedule, gives me three assistants to do the boring stuff, has a boss who pretty much lets me to do my own thing, there often are new and interesting aspects to the position even after 20 years, a decent pension and benefits, plus 52-53 paid-off days per year.
Wait a minute... that's my job as a government employee!

Our Agency has hired several hundred people in the past year, although the starting pay for most of the positions may be too low for some at just $19.00 an hour. The hiring is mostly done for now.

I've gotten only 1 interview since I started looking for a job in November. I'd have been quite happy with something like that.

Sounds better than Portillo's, except for the French benefits.

If you wish, I can inquire how one gets a grade for certain job titles. What kinds of positions are you looking for: software apps or hardware, mainframe or PCs, production or programming?

I work in Revenue, so I'm not knowledgeable about Skills Match or how to find open Positions to be applied for.
However, here is an initial site to look at:
http://www.ides.state.il.us/employment/default.asp
I'll try to get more info to supplement this. But all of it is there if you can find it.

I've heard that there are people being hired for $20.10 per hour using Stimulus Money. The positions are only temporary for about two years, but they will get you in the door as a State Employee. Health Care coverage may be extra. The major requirements, I believe, are: any 4-year College Degree, and you will have to go to the Thompson Building in downtown Chicago to take a general skills test on Tu-Th.
Contact me in you are interested, and I'll inform you how you can get a leg up on the questions that will be asked on the test.

Well, I have no qualifications as a job counselor, but do know a few people.
If you'll be at the Thompson's Monday, I'll bring the Guide along for you to cram from.
