Wizards is planning to consult with the online community to make sure they don't screw it up for 4th ed.  From what they were saying at Gencon, it will be a reboot of the world starting back at the beginning.

Yes, I think it could be a lot of fun.

Some people were talking about a sorcerer king pact for warlocks.  There's also some debate about the inclusion of clerics and paladins, though changes to the Paladin may make it work now.

I loved Dark Sun, and I hope this goes over well.

I would rather see a reboot by Joe.  That would be about the only way I'd ever play 4th Ed.  Its more about the story than the rules for Dark Sun, and Joe tells a damn good story.
